Leonid should lighten up and do some research about the history of sampling and its importance for Hip-Hop, House, Drum and Bass and many other genres. This record is made with so much care and love - if my track was sampled and included on it I would be flattered. Just heard about all this...Such a shame for the label and the other three artists, as I said right at the bottom cracking record in any case.
  • Aedem
Absolutely stunning release and future classic. IMO the Replika thing is blown out of proportion. Leonid should lighten up and do some research about the history of sampling and its importance for Hip-Hop, House, Drum and Bass and many other genres. This record is made with so much care and love - if my track was sampled and included on it I would be flattered. All in all A+ release by Long Weekend team, can't wait to see what they have in store for third release!
  • Barinirm
I totally agree. It's a good thing they only pressed 300!

Just been reading the thread on the mnml forum and it turns out that Leonid has made such a fuss about the sampling issue that Juno has removed the record from sale, something which is pretty much unprecedented. Its a rather sad state of affairs which isn't really fair on the record label but is a crying shame for the other three artists involved in the EP.
  • Mitynarit
I been listening to this track and Leonid´s back to back.. I honestly have to say, there is more to this than just sampling. The similarities is so evident that "sampling" is not the word to use here. Replika has simply ripped of Leonid.
  • Hadadel
aaaah Charlie6Fingers - maybe you go to a shop too, steal a little thing and say: "hey mr. shop-owner; - WTF - it's just a little sample i took" :-)and for sure: we don't talk about sampling, the Replika-guy copied quite more than a sample! shame!!!!!! about the other three tracks: i agree with you completely - respect for true artists!
  • Mr.Twister
Stealing? WTF u talking about. Ever heard of sampling? Ever heard of Hip Hop? Ever heard of Drum and Bass? The records is DOPE, and that track you talking about is not even the best one on it. I'd say it is the weakest one on the record (probably because of the sampled bit LOL), and no wonder they put it as B2.
  • Bloodhammer
you like stealin' too, guys? your point of view is insane!!!!
  • Tcaruieb
This is insane! This guy Leonid must be living under the rock for past 50 years...
  • Topmen
As stated below this Replika track which appears on this release has stolen my track from 2008. The original is here: http://www.discogs.com/Leonid-Mora-EP/master/141936Obviously the label is not at fault but the artist Replika. So please, don´t buy this. Paul Smith (Leonid)
  • Pettalo
I find it rather humorous that a producer with the name "Replika" is in this situation... Maybe that is his "thing"..I have had this record for a year and didn't know of your original. The only differences i can hear are on the Replika song it is a different crunchier/deeper bass with slightly different variations, added percussive elements, and a few added melodies&harmonies. But without a doubt the groove and structure of the song is the exact same.
  • Aradwyn
i must say i am so amused about you, Mr. Charly-Six-Finger-Replika-Fighter :-) great Job!!!!
  • MisterQweene
Obviously you are quite an ignorant fella. Copyright cannot be stolen, do a Google search and educate yourself before polluting internet with your garbage comments. FOH
  • Thiama
yeah - the copyright!
  • Lcena
WOW saying "don't buy this record", saying "stolen" is uncalled for. Are you seriously thinking that something was taken from you? What was it then? Fame? Money? Gigs?
  • Kemath
what a point of view - yes, there are three other great ORIGINAL tracks. but These three artists should give a ass-kick to Replika!!!! and there is no space for any critics about Leonid's posts!
  • Rocky Basilisk
Telling people to boycott the record when it has three other great tracks on it makes you come across as bitter when really you ought to be flattered. I like your track more but It's not like I can go out and buy it instead, so what harm is it doing you?
  • Ximathewi
@ Dinosaurs_And_Robots: there is no point for any discussion - replika and long weekend records did an unauthorized clone of "Resting II", so they violates the copyrights!
  • KiddenDan
Volta Cab did also used finished loops from samplers for various "productions"I remember the strange days EP:http://www.discogs.com/Volta-Cab-Strange-Days-EP/release/4251306just listen to this:http://frankhcarteriii.bandcamp.com/track/something-special-the-smoove-grooveso seems to be pretty common among these producers. :~

999 of your 1000 examples would hopefully show an individual and creative usage of samples. what replika presents us in this case is a song built on (not around) the "sample" he used. he overtook 80 % of his track. the other 20 % he added to create the "atmosphere" you mentioned is only a fraction of the whole work and the outcome is nothing but a cake with some whipped cream on it (needless to say, he did not bake the cake, he only added the whipped cream). but you seem to like the whipped cream, which is fine.
  • Mullador
And yet labels like Black Cock string loops together (uncredited) and they are still highly coveted. Do you ever listen to J Dilla or is he a thief? I could list 1000 examples of why this is a double standard. It's not the sample I would use to make a song, but it's no different than any of the 10 million other sample based tracks or edits that flood record stores.
  • Qwert
are you for real dinosaurs and robots? that is not sampling. he took over almost everything and added some lazy layers. and no crediting at all? that is stealing, not sampling.but paul: is not buying this the right handling of the problem? replika is probably earning no money with this record anyways. and as you stated, the label has no guilt, but by not buying the record you would harm the label, as they would not be compensated for their costs...ah and your track is way better by the way
  • Jwalextell
Sounds to me like Replika sampled a loop from your track, not just put his name on your original work. He added his own elements and arrangement to make a new track that has much more atmosphere and depth than the original, and I much prefer it. If you are against purchasing records with samples in them, then I'm assuming there aren't very many house or hiphop records in your collection. And if you're so sensitive about your work being sampled, perhaps you shouldn't release it since once it's out, you have no control over it.
  • Lesesshe
Track B2 (Replika - You Keep Me Waiting) samples (?) "Resting II" by Leonid. I prefer the leonid's one by far.
  • Dont_Wory
same here. "samples" would be an euphemism.. at least i found out about another great artist today hahaha
  • Gathris
looking forward to this one!but in all honesty: 17 euros retail price is a bit harsh, isnt it? is it at least a heavyweight?
  • Manemanu
ah, didnt even know this one is handpainted as well. kind of agree in that case!
  • Mariwyn
Mate! The work that they put into this! Everything is hand painted/stamped/carved. Work of art not to mention the music!
  • Maridor
Cracking record, best since Luvless on Sleazy Beats.
