Memory Select, the final release in the three-CD live series recorded by Tim Berne's Bloodcount at Instants Chavirés in Paris during September of 1994, begins in low-key fashion, with Chris Speed playing mournfully on his solitary clarinet before he is joined by Marc Ducret's skittering runs and begins to transfer some of the guitarist's energy into his own. Memory Select: The Paris Concert is a live album by saxophonist Tim Berne's Bloodcount and third volume of the series which was recorded in 1994 and released on the JMT label. The thing about this disk is that it continues the same epicness and the same energetic behavior while also displaying the strengths of every member of the ensemble's playing. There is not a weak point in the performance, Berne is brilliant as always but the guitarist Marc Ducret is absolutely stunning as well, one of the strongest points of the whole concert is in the final track when he really gets to work and delivers a solo that makes the ears tingle.
