LiveDead is the first official live album released by the rock band Grateful Dead. Recorded over a series of concerts in early 1969 and released later the same year, it was the first live rock album to use 16-track recording. In 2005 the tracks Dark Star, St. Stephen, Death Don't Have No Mercy, Feedback and We Bid You Goodnight were released, in their original sequence and with a new mix, on the respective February 27, 1969 and March 2, 1969 discs of the Fillmore West 1969: The Complete. Released in October 1971 on Warner Bros. Records, it is their second live double album. Although published without a title, it is generally known by the names Skull and Roses due to its iconic cover art and Skull Fuck the name the band originally wanted to give to the album, which was rejected by the record company. It was the group's first album to be certified gold by the RIAA and remained their best seller until surpassed by Skeletons. Possibly the greatest show the Grateful Dead ever played. This is a 3-set, 4-CD monster with so many great jams. Highlights include a passionate Morning Dew to kick it off, Birdsong, Playin', a very long Eyes, Here Comes Sunshine, and of course, Dark Star.
