Strange Geometry is the third studio album by English indie pop band The Clientele. The album was released on 30 August 2005 by Merge Records and on 5 September 2005 by Pointy Records. The album's first single was Since K Got Over Me, which was released on 22 August 2005 in limited quantities on 7 vinyl, backed with Devil Got My Woman and I Believe It. The song I Can't Seem To Make You Mine. A Sense of Falling: Strange Geometry Outtakes - The Clientele. Rebounding after the ever-so-slightly samey feel of The Violet Hour, Strange Geometry reinvigorates the Clientele's literate, wistful indie pop with fresh doses of emotion, invention, and wit. As the Arthur Machen quote in the album's liner notes suggests, Strange Geometry is as much about London as it is about introspection and lost love: virtually every song on the album makes characters out of the tenement lines, gardens, trees, streets, and buildings that make up the city. Album 2005 12 Songs. The U. s Clientele specialize in a somber melancholia that immediately conjures up the feeling of an afternoon tea observing an English rain. The bands obvious key 60s influences - Left Banke, Marianne Faithfull, Beatles, Kinks - are set back and relaxed to loping rhythms that never feel the need to modernize or speed up to todays technology. Instead, singer Alasdair MacLean recounts his aimless wanderings - the ever-present rain - with seductive melodies that have the same breezy feeling as the images that go fleeting past.
