The Gathering is the eighth studio album by American thrash metal band Testament, released on June 28, 1999. It was the first release the band had done with Spitfire Records. Testament has always been a thrash metal band, but 1992s The Ritual is mainstream enough that it may not be considered enough thrash metal for some fans but that album is a really solid one in the bands history. This is not to say that The Gathering is a bad album. It is just not as good as the bands first six studio albums. The Gathering is the latest release from Heavy Metal Legends Testament. For several years now, Testament has filled the void left when bands like Metallica decided to go mainstream and on this release, Testament stays very much true to the dark, heavy sound which has made them so successful in the past. This is classic Testament, full of fire, and great inventive lyrics like Chuck Billy mischievously says This is the album where everyone dies and some excellent powerful Metal grooves.
