Mezmerize is the fourth album by System of a Down and the first half of the MezmerizeHypnotize double album. It was released on May 17, 2005, six months before Hypnotize. Despite the time difference between releases, the album actually takes its name from the lyrics in the song Hypnotize Mezmerize and Hypnotize were recorded within the same time frame. The album features guitarist Daron Malakian sharing most of the vocal work with vocalist Serj Tankian, splitting the vocals at least halfway on most of the tracks. The album debuted at number one in at least twelve countries, including the US. Mezmerize is the fourth studio album by System of a Down and the first half of the MezmerizeHypnotize double album. The album features guitarist Daron Malakian sharing most of the vocal work with vocalist Serj Tankian, splitting the vocals at least halfway. Frontman Serj Tankian screams and barks with all the rapid-fire speed of a cattle auctioneer just as intense are Daron Malakians guitar parts, which are equal parts hardcore, alt-metal, and madness. The records' packaging would even slot together, making the eventual MezmerizeHypnotize whole. Appropriately then, there's an intro to System's first new material since 2001's brilliant Toxicity. On Soldier Side Daron Malakian and Serj Tankian harmonize as they do throughout the record, and Malakian's guitar has a mournful, Eastern air

Reviews:
  • lucky kitten
Seems to have really bad inner groove distortion, got it on my end and heard it in someone elses rip.
  • Voodoogore
Not very good. Sounds a bit thin, and the pressing is just average (eg: noisy during the quiet parts). Nice to have it on vinyl, but not how I'd choose to listen to it.
  • Malakelv
Is anyone else missing label from side a? two more
  • deadly claw
Do the reissues sound better than the old picture disks? :0
  • Manona
Wow, never knew you were a SOAD fan, cool! I only have the picture disk for Steal this Album but I don’t wan to buy the reissue because I don’t see the point. I guess for science!
  • Akinozuru
oh hay, it's you my friend. I got these the other week. They sound pretty good for standard cheap black reissues. Never heard the picture discs but I would assume so since I doubt the mastering was any different.
  • Wat!?
Any audio reviews? Need 10 words to post my question.
  • ????????????????????????
Yeah I hate that. Just average would be my review. Nice to own but you're better off listening to CD. Or dare I say... a good quality streaming setup.
  • Light out of Fildon
Is it just me or do certain parts sound incredibly brickwalled/compressed? Particularly the vocals. It's really apparent to me in songs like "Lost in Hollywood".
  • Tori Texer
No, it isn't you. The whole set sounds muddy and compressed. Just like the rush job on the pixelated artwork.
  • Cargahibe
dansukyoungyun Is it just me or do certain parts sound incredibly brickwalled/compressed? Particularly the vocals. It's really apparent to me in songs like "Lost in Hollywood". I feel like this album has always had its fair share of brickwalling, even on the CD.
  • Black_Hawk_Down.
Just got my copy from the store. Front cover album art is terrible quality. Looks like a JPEG from Google Images blown up. What gives?
  • Jerdodov
looks ok to me. Steal This Album looks more obviously pixelated in my opinion.
  • Debeme
Mine looks fine. Its the US version. The Europe version pics posted on here do look pixelated.
  • Viashal
It's the same on all of the represses, I can't believe how bad they are.
  • Not-the-Same
Yeah, extremely disappointed with the cover art quality. Who approved this?!
