The Cleveland Orchestra has always been one of my favorites, and under the direction of Levi, they seemed to really embrace this piece. Just listen to the first movement: Montagues and Capulets and you'll know. Oh, and for fun, check out some history on Prokofiev in creating this piece. The Cleveland Orchestra was founded in 1918 under the direction of Russian-American conductor Nikolai Sokoloff, who initiated an extensive domestic touring schedule, educational concerts, commercial recordings, and radio broadcasts. Concerts were given at Grays Armory during the Orchestras first season, after which they moved to Clevelands Masonic Auditorium. In 1931, the Orchestra moved to its new permanent home, Severance Hall, in Clevelands University Circle area.
