Founded in 1992 in Los Angeles by guitarist and songwriter Kevin McMahon, after his first project Lucky Pierre disbanded. Here McMahon uses the basic production style of industrial metal, but twists it into a mix of Bowie glam rock and Gary Numan new wave that sounds way ahead of its time. I'm often surprised (in a good way) with the titles that the major labels are reissuing on vinyl these days. This is a rather obscure record by one-man band Kevin McMahon and it is probably most notable for two things: being partially produced by Trent Reznor on his Nothing Records label (Kevin is a close friend/personal hero of his), and having one of the songs prominently featured in the cult classic movie Showgirls ("Animal"). The sound is industrial rock with a glam rock flavour. This pressing sounds fantastic - my copy is clean and quiet, and the music is dynamic and punchy, the way it should be. I've been quite underwhelmed by many of Universal's recent vinyl reissues - but this one was a very pleasant surprise - and it was inexpensive, just $20 at Amazon. More like this, please!
I went and picked this up. Pretty good pressing. No download code is included.
Thank you so much for your review. I liked what little I have heard of this album and am interested in the vinyl. Great that they used Pallas to press these.
Do you remember if it came with a download code?
