Japanese 20 bit digital remaster with obi.

"A revolution is unfurling - America's unfinished revolution. It is unfirling in lunch counters, buses, libraries and schools - wherever the dignity and potential of men are denied. Youth and idealism are unfurling. Masses of Negroes are marching onto the stage of history and demanding their freedom now!" -A Philip Randolph
What this album is saying is that FREEDOM DAY is coming in many places, and those working for it mean to make it stick. In 1937, a Negro who still remembered slavery spoke of what it was like in 1865. "Hallelujah broke out... Everyboby went wild. We all felt like heroes, and nobody had make us that way but ourselves." As far as I know, this is the only version of "We Insist!" released on CD that doesn't suffer from very obvious flaws in the sound. According to liner notes, this Japanese reissue was made from Max Roach's personal master tapes. For some reason, Candid seems to have lost its own master tapes (or maybe Roach never gave them to the label), so all of their own CD releases of the album have issues with sound distortion, sounding like a vinyl rip. The 2011 Poll Winners Records reissue uses the Candid CD as a source, and therefore it has the same distortion. So this Victor reissue is the one to get if you wanna hear this amazing album on CD.
I'm not familiar with the 1986 CD, but it seems likely it has the same source as this CD. The liner notes on this CD are in Japanese, but the back cover has an English text saying: "digital remaster from a master recording owned by Max Roach". So it seems all the Victor CD printings use Roach's original masters, whereas the Candid CD printings (and the ones based on them, such as the Poll Winners Records reissue) are vinyl rips.
The 1986 Japanese CD (VDJ-1568) also does not suffer from the vinyl rip issues of the EU/US CD. The booklet states 'Licensed by Max Roach', the rest of the liner notes are in Japanese. Does your 1997 CD explicitly state when was the first time Mr. Roach's personal master tapes were used by Victor? Are the liner notes in Japanese?
