Avery Lawrence Schreiber April 9, 1935 January 7, 2002 was an American actor and comedian. He was a veteran of stage, television, and film who came to prominence in the 1960s in a comedy duo with Jack Burns. He then went on to an array of acting roles mostly on television sitcoms, and a series of advertisements for Doritos tortilla chips. Schreiber was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Minnie née Shear and George Schreiber. He started his career in Chicago at the Goodman Theatre. He joined. Avery Schreiber and Jack Burns 1966. Burns began his comedy career in 1959, when he partnered with George Carlin both were working for radio station KXOL in Fort Worth, Texas. After successful performances at a Fort Worth beat coffeehouse, The Cellar, Burns and Carlin headed for California in February 1960 and continued to work together for two more years. An album containing some of their material was released in 1963, titled Burns and Carlin at the Playboy Club Tonight. The comedian began as George Carlin's partner and later voiced a famous crash test dummy. A year later, the twosome recorded an album, Burns and Carlin at the Playboy Club Tonight, which was not released until 1963. Oh, and it was not recorded at the Playboy Club, rather in a joint called Cosmo Alley. But that's just a small taste of the sly humor Burns would ply throughout his career. By the time at the Playboy Club Tonight was released, Burns and Carlin had amicably split to pursue separate careers. I really liked Jack Burns when he was teamed with Avery Schreiber. Their taxicab routines were really funny. You will be missed. With George Carlin, Kelly Garrett, Teresa Graves, Jud Strunk. Summer variety series hosted by comedy team Burns & Schreiber.
