Album

Snow is a 1993 EP by Scottish alternative rock band Cocteau Twins, released in December 1993 on Fontana Records. It contains cover versions of the Christmas standards Frosty the Snowman and Winter Wonderland. It is out of print, though its tracks appear on the compilation Lullabies to Violaine. Snow was released in extremely limited quantities one expert suggested that fewer than 5,000 copies were made. One of the songs on the album, Frosty the Snowman, was recorded more than a year before Snow. Cocteau Twins were a Scottish rock band active from 1979 to 1997. They were formed in Grangemouth by Robin Guthrie guitars, drum machine and Will Heggie bass, adding Elizabeth Fraser vocals in 1981 and replacing Heggie with multi-instrumentalist Simon Raymonde in 1983. The group has earned critical praise for their distinctive ethereal sound and the soprano vocals of Fraser, whose lyrics often abandon recognisable language. They pioneered the 1980s alternative rock subgenre of dream pop. Listen free to Cocteau Twins Snow Winter Wonderland, Frosty the Snowman. 2 tracks 5:46. Frosty the Snowman written by Jack Rollings, Steve Nelson. Produced and arranged by Cocteau Twins. Additional engineering by Lincoln Fong. Recorded and mixed at September Sound, London. Original photography by Walter Wick. Sleeve design by Lifeboat Matey. Peaked at 58 on the UK album chart. Frosty the Snowman originally appeared on a 1992 release of Volume CD Magazine Volume 5. Winter Wonderland was later released on the 1995 holiday compilation entitled The Edge of Christmas. The Cocteau Twins do Christmas in two achingly beautiful tracks on the now very rare 2-track cd single Snow. Both songs also feature on the singles collection Lullabies To Violaine Vol. This version of Frosty is perhaps my favourite Christmas track ever.
