Analord is a series of eleven 12 vinyl records released in 2005 by UK-based electronic music artist Richard D. James, primarily under the alias AFX. The series marked James's return to primarily analogue equipment following his computer-oriented programming work in the late 1990s. After their release, James distilled the 3 hour, 42-track series into the 10-track compilation album Chosen Lords 2006, effectively his first full-length release since the 2001 album Drukqs. Analord 3 is particularly strong, beginning with Boxing Day, which places a John CarpenterGershon Kingsley spooky Moog melody on top of a thrusting electro beat. Analord 4 is comparatively spare and almost as good. The bouncy Crying in Your Face has what could be some heavily vocodered vocals or James could be he's just making the machines talk and a strong pop feel, while the quiet, menacing Home Made Polysynth gets same mileage from between-note beats in the manner of Analord 3's Midievil Rave 1. The closing Breath March is a deceptively great tune. Analord 05 is a music album by AFX released in 2005. This album was flagged as suspect 2 days ago. Reunion 2 is one of the most emotional / "emotion-full" track of RDJ's discography, it is kind of borderline sad and melancholic while maintaining a restless pace and never giving up the fight; lots of things are happening in the background as it mutates around 2min30 and again around 3min30. The Alt. Version offers another view, the mix is quite different, probably not mastered (it's a digital bonus).
Cilonen displays one of the most catchy bassline you'll ever hear and can be defined as a warm, upbeat and playfull track. The pads are just pure bliss... getting you into the zone, the acid line (303?) just talks its way into it like a happy child; lots of details again, small sequences everywhere.
The original 2 tracks are just perfect as they are, complementing each other nicely.
The Gong Acid bonus has a kind of tribal groove and shows once again AFX knows its way around a 303 like no other.
